This book although seemingly pricey when compared with others is well worth it. I read this a few years ago and still refer to it today, its a guide through what you should and could be doing. It doesn’t cover everything in the online world but it covers everything you need to know to run a successful and on going seo campaign.

Inbound Marketing: Google uses social media and blogs
Whilst not about seo this book is about marketing online, it is about using social media to leverage your rankings as well as using them to drive great amounts of traffic to your website. Its a great read if you are looking to improve your social marketing strategy.

Don’t Make Me Think!
I am under no doubt that this book is one of my favourites. It is about bringing together marketing and design in such a way as to make a website intuitive and friendly. This is no SEO book, unless like me you see design as part of seo. It’s new born (2009) sister is called rocket surgery made easy and at just over £15 is also worth a read.
