SEO is a multilayered industry that never stops moving and changing, and while the basics are easy to learn, you could work full time trying to master the knowledge involved.

Thankfully, the infographic has made it easier, quicker and a lot more fun to consume information. Take a look at these great SEO infographics if you want to brush up on your knowledge in lightning-speed.

SEO FAQs – A Guide

This information-rich infographic details a plethora of SEO basics facts and figures. However, while most of the data in this infographic is still relevant today, it’s worth noting that this was created in 2010, and at the rate SEO changes, a number of the methods cited have become either ineffective or downright harmful.

What We Learn

Forty-two percent of all searchers click on the first result. This proves that the value of being in position 1 over being elsewhere on the first page of the search results is substantial.

Only 23 percent of searchers click on a pay-per-click (PPC) link instead of an organic link. This shows that while investment in PPC is no doubt valuable, investment in SEO should prove to be far more lucrative in the long term.

Precisely where we should be using keywords on a webpage. This is illustrated very clearly using the Wikipedia homepage.

Goldilocks SEO

This very cool spin on the classic tale of Goldilocks and the three bears uses the three bowls of porridge (too hot, too cold and just right) to symbolize the effectiveness of common SEO tactics.

What We Learn

Targeting the most competitive keywords from the get-go is too hot (i.e. too spammy a technique) – unless, of course, you’re one of those massive brands that Google loves whatever they do.

Building links entirely to your homepage is too aggressive an approach, while just accepting links as they occur is too complacent. The key is diversity and ensuring all links point to the most relevant pages.

The Sneaky Psychology of Advertising

SEO is about far more than keywords, copy and statistics – if you really want to make a site that succeeds in the search engines and the eyes of the consumer, you need to understand consumer psychology. This infographic will get you started.

What We Learn

    Buzzwords make people buy.

Giving people a deal (or making them think they’re getting a deal) gets them spending.

Endorsements and testimonials give buyers the needed reassurances when they can’t make up their mind.

The Google Panda Update: One Year Later

4 Awesomely Cool SEO Infographics guest

Google’s Panda update was the most significant change to happen to SEO for years, with a number of further Panda updates occurring during the previous 12 or so months – hence why more than one year on, we’re still talking about it and still creating infographics in an attempt to understand it.

What We Learn

Panda is, in fact, only one of around 200 factors Google uses to decide the rankings of pages.

The first version of Panda primarily targeted sites that had become involved in “content farms.” Around 12 percent of searches were estimated to have been affected.

Panda hasn’t affected searches in every language: Japanese, Korean and Chinese searches remain unhit.

Google states that if penalized sites want to recover, they need to remove or improve poor-quality content. This may be easier said than done.

Are there any good infographics you use to better understand or explain some of the SEO tasks and processes? Please share them in the comments!
