You don’t need to, do you? I mean every other day companies are emailing us or calling us up telling us they could put us at the top of Google, so why waste time looking for someone when they serve themselves up on a platter?

How Do You Choose A SEO Company? in short

Well, because they’re talking crap that’s why. I actually like receiving cold calls from SEO companies, because I’m yet to speak with one that knows more than me. Big headed? Not really, that statement isn’t saying that I’m an SEO expert, although I hold my own, but the guys calling you up or emailing you generally don’t know anything and I take a great deal of pleasure tripping them up and catching them out.

Optimising your web pages takes time and it may even be several months before you see real results, the person you chose to do SEO on your site, not only needs to know how Search Engines work (that’s the bit that they bring to the table), but they also need you, they need to be able to understand your customers, your industry and how they use the internet.

You need to and that’s not easy. A recommendation from someone you know is a good start; failing let find someone that’s local to you that you can meet face to face. Obviously, SEO can be done from anywhere in the World, but you can judge a person much better in the flesh.

I guy I know locally needs some SEO help and came to me for a recommendation. Jon knows my background and experience and trusts me, I helped him find a new member of staff last year. I pointed him in Andy’s direction because of a couple of reasons.

Content – Andy puts out a lot of good content, his articles include tips and tricks that I use myself, so I know he knows what he’s talking about.

Knowledge – He’s on top of every small Search Engine change and how it would impact on SEO. He’s highlight little changes I need to make on more than one occasion.

Nice Guy – I’ve never met Andy, but we talk a lot on Social Media, not just about SEO. He’s always helpful and polite. The sort of guy I’d like to have a beer with. In fact, Andy when are you free?

I’d just like to thank rich for making me go red when I read this. He is far too kind, but thank you it means a lot to know I am helping in some way – this is exactly why I do this blog to help people like yourself (rich) who manage websites each day.
